Who wouldn’t want to hear three of the country’s most powerful voices in wonderful harmony of worship? I have always been a fan of Regine, Ogie, and Jaya – and I am very excited to hear their God-given instruments used to belt out goose bump-inducing, and beautiful melodies of the our most-loved worship songs. “Reborn” is their first ever worship concert for the benefit of the abandoned elderly of the Anawim Lay Missions Foundation, Inc., one of the mercy ministries of well-loved Catholic lay preacher and founder of “Kerygma” and “The Feast,” Bro. Bo Sanchez.
This concert is the initiative of “1 Walker” – a group of singers and musician friends who get together regularly and use their talents to enrich their relationship with God through their love for music. This started with Ogie and Regine Alcasid and a small group of their friends led by Bernard Marquez. Eventually, more of their friends joined the group – starting with Liza Martinez, Jaya, Sushi Reyes and Archie Castillo, then with Marnie Jereza, Manolo Tanquilut, Eugene Cailao, Zebedee Zuniga, Criss Beunviaje, Jem Florendo, Soc Mina, Michael Alba, JunJun Regalado and Nikko Rivera. Why 1 Walker? It is the address of where this journey began. The Bible verse “For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV)” also plays an important role in the band’s existence.
The concert is also in collaboration with “Power Mornings” – a midweek gathering of some of the country’s top executives and corporate leaders who regularly take a break from the busyness of business over light breakfast and light music, and encourage one another through light life talks. This group is led by the Light of Jesus Community of lay preacher and best-selling author, Bo Sanchez. Together, they collaborate and commit themselves to be agents of change in their respective organizations.
What do these two passionate groups of people have in common? It is love. Love for faith and music. Love for the poor. Love that responds to the call to “give back”.
Also joining in the concert are Angeline Quinto and Alden Richards, who will be giving their own special numbers. 🙂 If only I knew about this event earlier, maybe I would have also been invited to render a song or two! (hint, hint) But for now, I’m just so happy I get to be part of the audience, cheering for my idols and singing with them in praise for God.
So please do yourself a favor and be part of this event, and you can help the lolos and lolas of Anawim make the rest of their lives, the best of their lives. “Reborn” Worship Concert happens this Sunday, April 3, 2016, at 7:00 pm, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
