“Kerygma” is a Greek word used in the New Testament for “preaching.” It is also defined as “the apostolic proclamation of salvation through Jesus Christ” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. In the Philippines, the word Kerygma is well-attached to Bro. Bo Sanchez and his ministry. Bro. Bo is known as the Catholic “preacher in blue jeans” and is the well-loved lay minister, author, and entrepreneur behind the annual “Kerygma Conference” and the weekly fellowship “The Feast.”
I remember as a young child, my first ever magazine subscription was for the Kerygma Magazine from the Shepherd’s Voice Publication. I signed up in one of the gatherings in our parish at Mary Help of Christians in Parañaque. My parents, particularly my Mommy, would bring me and my brother to the weekly charismatic fellowships at our parish hall where I learned to sing praise songs and doze off to sleep during the “sharings” (sorry, I was only around 6-7 years old then, hehe!). I would always be excited to get something in the mail, with my name on it, and would read all the articles in the magazine.
So when I heard about the Kerygma Conference this year, I was definitely interested to attend. The “Kerygma Conference 2015: Coming Home” is happening on November 19-22, 2015 at the SMX Convention Center and SM Mall of Asia Arena. The conference is on its 9th year, and each time it just gets bigger and better at touching many lives and inspiring people to be closer to God. I have a lot of friends who regularly attend (and some even sing at) The Feast fellowships, and though I have never tried going to one yet, I am very excited to attend the Grand Feast happening on November 22.
I know that it’s the long weekend because of the APEC Summit, but what better way to spend this unexpected vacation than to learn and be inspired by the different classes and sessions? They will have 4 days of non-stop learning with as many as 9 classes of your choice from 5 different streams—business and career, leadership and education, church ministry and systems, wellness and health, and family and relationships. Experience an overflow of learning from plenary speakers: Rex Mendoza, Justin Fatica (of the U.S. based Hard As Nails Ministry), Fr. Joel Jason, Arun Gogna and Alvin Barcelona. International speakers Jana Stanfield, Scott Friedman, and Jonathan Low will also be sharing business and leadership insights in their respective classes. On November 22, there will be two “Grand Feasts” at the Mall of Asia Arena, where a Holy Mass will be held, plus plenary talks by Bo Sanchez and Alvin Barcelona, and of course, powerful worship. And for the afternoon Grand Feast, singers Jaya, Ogie Alcasid, and Regine Velasquez will be the guest performers! 🙂 Conference ticket holders may attend the morning or afternoon Grand Feasts (or both!).
